Software updaters review
Some time back we posted about filehippo’s free Update Checker. Since then two more software updaters have appeared on the internet. These are UpdateStar and AppSnap.
UpdateStar has an impressive GUI, however, it is not convincing with the list of programs it returns information on. For programs such as Google Earth, for which Update Checker is seeing an available update, UpdateStar mentions nothing. So there is definitely room for improvement in providing a longer list of upgradeable software.
As for AppSnap, it simply doesn’t cut it for me. Poor interface (non-expandable window…why?) and again a short list of software that is being looked into.
So the overall winner would be filehippo’s Update Checker. Clean, comprehensive list of detected programs, beta version updates included, direct download link to the filehippo website.
